Indiana Learns is a statewide enrichment grant program supporting reading and math growth for eligible young Hoosiers.
Eligible families, demonstrating both financial and academic need, can access $1,000 to spend with approved providers on high-dosage math and reading tutoring.
This $1,000 grant funding can be applied toward approved in-person or virtual tutoring opportunities listed in the online Indiana Learns portal.
- Student Qualifications
To qualify for an Indiana Learns tutoring grant, a student must meet ALL of the following criteria:
- Student completed ILEARN testing and scored below proficiency in either Mathematics or English/Language Arts;
- Student resides in Indiana;
- Student is enrolled in and is attending a CSI, TSI or ATSI-designated school as a third through eighth grade student; and
- Student qualifies for the federal free or reduced lunch program.
Note: Students achieving approaching proficiency will not qualify.
Beginning Monday, November 3, interested families can visit IndianaLearns.org to check if their student is eligible. Families will need to enter a student’s Student Test Number (STN) and date of birth to verify eligibility. Parents can locate their student’s STN on their ILEARN score report or by reaching out to their school’s registrar or office staff. After enrolling, students can officially begin tutoring for the 2025–2026 program year on Monday, November 10.
- Learning Partner Qualifications
The Learning Partner application window for 2025-2026 is currently closed.
To become an approved Learning Partner, organizations must:
- Demonstrate a minimum of two years doing business and a staffing model that includes a minimum of 10 people;
- Submit an application for the 2025- 2026 program year;
- Corporations must apply on behalf of eligible CSI, TSI, or ATSI schools within their district;
- Provide services outside of Tier 1 math and language arts instruction;
- Serve the following students:
- Reside in Indiana;
- Completed 2024 ILEARN testing and scored below proficiency in either Mathematics or English/Language Arts;
- Note: Students achieving approaching proficiency will not qualify.
- Are enrolled and attending an Indiana public or public charter CSI-designated school as a third through eighth grade student; and
- Qualify for the federal free or reduced lunch program.
- Utilize highly-qualified tutors as defined by the Indiana Department of Education (IDOE) to provide services. Tutors must meet one of the following requirements:
- At least a two-year college degree;
- Passed the parapro assessment (within the first year of employment);
- One year or 1,000 hours of previous employment experience in a school or working with children;
- Passed annual school-level evaluations;
- Successfully completed 48 hours of college level classes;
- Has a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential; or
- Other requirements approved by IDOE.
