Indiana’s course titles and description (CTD) documents provide brief overviews of elementary, middle school, and high school curricular areas and courses. These descriptions are intended to assist schools in communicating, in a broad context, the content of programs and courses. Code numbers listed before each course title and description are to be used for Indiana Department of Education (IDOE) data reporting. All changes since publication of the previous year’s CTD are outlined at a change log at the end of the document.
A separate companion document for the 2025-2026 school year includes course-specific information (e.g., course codes and titles, course durations, available credits, recommended and required course prerequisites, dual credit designations, and supported Graduation Pathways). All diploma requirements will be included until the current requirements (i.e., Core 40, Academic Honors Diploma and Technical Honors Diploma) sunset for the class of 2028.
The newest and most recent editions of the CTD documents are located in the first drop-down section below. Ancillary materials that can help inform decisions regarding course offerings are available in the Additional Course-Related Guidance section. All other available CTD documents and related memos and guidance documents are located in the Archive section.

Schools can submit a nonstandard course waiver to offer courses that are not found in the current Course Titles and Descriptions (CTD). Schools must receive IDOE approval of their nonstandard course waiver prior to offering a nonstandard course or awarding credit for a nonstandard course. IDOE’s Nonstandard Course Waiver Request Form is located below. Initial nonstandard course waiver requests should be submitted five months prior to the planned implementation date. Requests to enact a major modification in operation of a school, or school corporation, should be submitted eight months prior to the planned implementation. Requests for amendments to, or extensions of, a previous approval should be submitted three months prior to the planned implementation.
