Students Present Projects During Computer Science Education Week

INDIANAPOLIS - Tomorrow, the Indiana Department of Education and AT&T Indiana will join Nextech to host teams of elementary, middle and high school students at the Statehouse for the Nextech CSforGood Showcase. As part of the event, the top teams will present computer science projects centered around tackling real community problems.

The Nextech CSforGood Showcase falls during Computer Science Education Week, which is a national celebration of the contributions that students, educators and community partners make to advance computer science and digital literacy in schools. According to a 2021 report from Code.org, Indiana is the No. 1 state in the Midwest for computer science in schools.

WHAT:
Teams of Hoosier student finalists will showcase their computer science team projects, which solve a problem in their local community or school. The event includes live judging from industry professionals, and winners will be announced at the conclusion of the event.

Wednesday, December 8, 2021 from 10 A.M. to 11 A.M.

WHY:Computer science and digital literacy projects help students learn how to evaluate, explore, collaborate and problem solve, skills they can take with them no matter what career or pathway they choose to pursue in their lives.
