Attention Wabash County Taxpayers affected by the June 11th severe weather:
Any taxpayer who has experienced significant damage or complete loss to the structures located on their property is eligible for property tax relief for your 2026 assessment to be paid in 2027. To receive this reduction in assessed value, you must file a Form 137R for a reassessment of the property that has been partially or totally destroyed by disaster. This form can be found on the Department of Local Government Finance website located here: https://forms.in.gov/Download.aspx?id=4773 . We ask that you complete the form and return to the Assessor’s office at your earliest convenience.
To assist us in making this process a bit easier, please be sure to have photos of the structures that will require the reassessment. We encourage anyone who has suffered a loss to reach out to assist us in the process. We don’t want to miss anyone. Please note that minimal damage such as detached gutters or missing shingles will not likely result in a reduced value, but if you have actual structural damage to your home or outbuildings, we encourage you to file this form as soon as possible so we can do our verifications and make any necessary adjustments.
Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with those affected and we urge you to please reach out should you have any questions or concerns.
