The Freeze/Thaw Period for all non-exempt Monroe County maintained roadways is in effect from February 3rd to May 3rd each calendar year. Any vehicle in excess of 16,000 pounds must have a waiver to drive on non-exempt Monroe County maintained roadways. Please see Monroe County Code Chapter 480.
HIGH-WATER ROAD CLOSINGS
High water closings can and do change based on weather conditions. Please be aware of changing weather conditions. Monitor flood and flash flood watches and warnings. Do not cross water-covered roads.
MCGOWAN ROAD, between Kent Road & Eldridge Road: McGowan Road is closed in this area until further notice, due to road flooding.
STIPP ROAD, at Cartop State Recreation Area (SRA): Stipp Road is closed in this area until further notice, due to road flooding.
ADVANCE NOTICE OF ROAD CLOSINGS
ROCKPORT ROAD, between Cockrell Road & Bolin Lane: Rockport Road will be closed in this area from June 2026 – November 2026 for Bridge Reconstruction. We’ll provide contact information and specific dates in a couple of weeks as soon as it becomes available.

BREEDEN ROAD, between Freeland Lane & Graves Road: Breeden Road will be closed in this area on Monday, April 13, 2026 – Tuesday, April 14, 2026, from 7:00 am – 3:00 pm for culvert repairs by Monroe County Bridge Crews.

DUKE ROAD, between Knightridge Road and ECM (End of County Maintenance): Monroe County Highway Crews will be patching with a gradall & roller at multiple locations in this area on Wednesday, April 15, 2026 - Friday, April 17, 2026, from 7:00 am – 3:00 pm. There will be lane restrictions with traffic control.
EVANS ROAD, between Rockport Road and ECM (End of County Maintenance): Monroe County Highway Crews will be patching with a gradall & roller at multiple locations in this area on Tuesday, April 14, 2026 - Friday, April 17, 2026, from 7:00 am – 3:00 pm. There will be lane restrictions with traffic control.
GROSS ROAD, between Knightridge Road & Gross Lane: Monroe County Highway Crews will be full depth patching at 6440 E Gross Road on Monday, April 13, 2026 - Tuesday, April 14, 2026, from 7:00 am – 3:00 pm. There will be lane restrictions with traffic control.
SEKIU COURT, between Hartstrait Road and ECM (End of County Maintenance): Monroe County Stormwater Crews will be making stormwater improvements in this area on Monday, April 13, 2026 – Friday, April 17, 2026, from 7:00 am – 3:00 pm. There will be lane restrictions with traffic control.
MONROE COUNTY ROAD MAINTENANCE: Monroe County Highway Crews will be performing brief road maintenance functions including mowing, trimming trees, patching potholes, spreading stone, shoulder repairs, yard repairs and grading gravel roads in various areas throughout the County this week during the hours of 7:00 am – 3:00 pm. There will be lane restrictions with traffic control.
MONROE COUNTY BRIDGE MAINTENANCE: Monroe County Bridge Crews will be performing brief bridge maintenance functions and guardrail repairs in various areas throughout the County this week during the hours of 7:00 am – 3:00 pm. There will be lane restrictions with traffic control.
MONROE COUNTY STORMWATER MAINTENANCE: Monroe County SW Crews will be performing brief storm water maintenance functions including street sweeping, storm inlet and culvert maintenance, and cleaning culverts in various areas throughout the County this week during the hours of 7:30 am – 2:30 pm. There will be lane restrictions with traffic control.
