According to 410 IAC 1-2.5-80, Every case of a human being bitten by a domestic or wild mammal shall be reported within twenty-four (24) hours to the local health department having jurisdiction.
How to report an animal bite (if bitten by a dog, cat, or ferret):

- You may report the incident by completing the form below and faxing it to Fax#812-948-2208 or emailing the report to dstackhouse@floydcounty.in.gov

Note (for after-hours exposures): If you are bitten by a wild animal or may have come into contact with a bat, and the animal is available for testing, please contact New Albany Floyd County Animal Control (812-948-5355) or New Albany Police Dispatch (812-948-5300) immediately.
If the animal cannot be safely captured or is not available for testing, post-exposure prophylaxis must be started. Immediately contact your local, emergency care facility.
