Compensation
A current employee is eligible to receive $500 for each referred candidate hired for a full-time position, $250 for each referred candidate hired for a part-time position, or $100 for each referred candidate hired for an intermittent position.

Employee Recognition
Since 2005, the State of Indiana has honored long-term state employees through an annual recognition ceremony and reception, the Governor's Long Term Employee Reception. Long-term employees are those with at least 35 years of service with the State of Indiana and are recognized in five-year increments (35, 40, 45, 50, 55+ years of government employment). The recognition ceremony and reception is held each year in December.

Achievement Awards
The Governor’s Public Service Achievement Awards recognize State employees and teams who, through their commitment and innovation at work, have produced a measurable, positive impact on their agency’s finances, operations, or population served. Governor Holcomb publicly acknowledges awardees for their outstanding contributions in a special ceremony and they receive a monetary reward.

Retirement Planning
INSPD offers a one-day Pre-Retirement workshop, conducted twice per year, designed to assist state employees with advance retirement planning. A sound retirement requires careful planning involving numerous topics. The Pre-Retirement Seminar includes presentations and information on a variety of topics.

Charitable Campaign
The State Employees’ Community Campaign (SECC) seeks to provide state employees with opportunities to be conscientious citizens and get involved with nonprofits in their communities. The campaign consolidates fundraising efforts statewide and is the time of year when state employees can give in a combined effort, largely through payroll deductions. It’s grown to be one of the largest annual activities that state employees participate in.

Work-Life Balance
Community Service Leave
Maximizing our teams’ engagement in charitable service is a service to our state and our communities, and it broadens the meaning and purpose in our work. The Community Service Leave policy gives full-time employees 15 hours and part-time employees 7.5 hours, annually. This helps further engage State employees in meaningful service to their communities.
Flexible Work Arrangements
The Flexible Work Arrangements policy was established to standardize remote work and flexible scheduling options across state agencies while continuing to provide great government service. This policy authorizes agencies to evaluate and permit up to 15 hours per week of remote work for employees whose work may be performed outside of state facilities.
The Pulse Survey
The Indiana State Personnel Department conducts the Pulse Survey twice a year to give all state employees the opportunity to provide feedback on their experience working for the state.
This confidential survey asks for employee feedback so we can build a culture that serves employees while they serve their community.
WHOLE Employee
The State of Indiana believes that when its teams are engaged in learning and development and actively promote wellness, we amplify our capacity to provide great government service. The WHOLE Employee Policy states that agencies may conduct employee engagement, wellness, learning, and development related activities utilizing state property and during compensable work hours.
