Hiring Process

The best candidates are hard to find, hard to lock in and hard to keep. Nearly half of offer recipients are simultaneously considering two other offers, which means timing is critical. We strongly recommend all hiring managers follow this State of Indiana Hiring Process Timeline. Bookmark this page and refer to it whenever you’re starting the hiring process.

Create
Requisition
  • Hiring Manager creates a requisition within SuccessFactors.
  • INSPD Field HR and Talent Acquisition approve the requisition before it can be posted.

Days 1-14

Screen
  • To ensure a great candidate experience, Hiring Manager must review applications and take action on candidates that appear in the "screen" status every day.
  • Refer to the Hiring Process Guide - Start to Finish to help you take action.

Short List & Disposition
  • Hiring Manager moves top candidates into their "Short list."
  • Hiring Manager dispositions candidates based on how well the candidate’s application matches the requisition.
 

4

Interview
  • Hiring Manager contacts shortlisted candidates for an interview.
  • Requisitions are posted for 14 days, but Hiring Manager should interview candidates before the posting closes.

Days 15-23

Initiate
Pre-Hire
  • Hiring Manager moves the candidate to the “Initiate Pre-Hire” status.
  • A member of the INSPD Field HR team begins the pre-hire processing.

Pre-Hire
Checks
  • HR sends offer details through the Compensation & Classification Review (CCR).
  • HR initiates the Barada Background Check, as well as the INSPD employment and education verifications.

Final
Offer
  • Hiring Manager extends a Final Offer and confirms the start date.
  • A member of your INSPD Field HR team generates and sends a Formal Offer Letter.

Target Time to Hire Metrics = 23 Days

Days 1-10

Steps 1-4

Hiring Managers screen, shortlist, and interview during this time.

Days 11-14

Step 5
Interviews are wrapping up. The Hiring Manager selects a final candidate and extends a contingent offer.

Days 15-17

Steps 6-7

HR submits an offer approval and launches background check/verifications.

Days 18-23

Step 8

Hiring Manager extends a final verbal offer, HR sends a formal offer letter, and the hire is initiated in SuccessFactors.
