The term "serve" means to provide notice; in other words, everyone has the right to "due process" under the law. Everyone involved in a civil case must be provided with proper notice of every paper filed in that case. The Harrison County Sheriff's Department can serve papers in civil processes including but not limited to serving papers to individuals due to eviction, civil judgments, and divorce.
It normally takes 1-3 days for the Harrison County Sheriff's Department to serve papers to an individual or business. An individual can be served by documents placed in the mail or served directly in person at the individual's home or work address.
