The costs associated with tobacco use impacts everyone - families, employers, workers. Everyone bears the burden of the several billion dollars that tobacco use costs the state of Indiana each year. The average annual healthcare cost associated with tobacco use in Indiana is $2.2 billion, including more than $1 billion in hospital costs. In addition, Medicaid expenditures in Indiana directly related to tobacco total more than $448 million.
