Indiana OED is committed to offering grant and funding programs for the benefit of Hoosier citizens, communities, and businesses in support Indiana’s energy policies and priorities. Our programs span a suite of opportunities across all sectors and energy technologies. You can find a variety of funding options from planning stages, such as developing energy plans and conducting energy audits, to infrastructure deployment, such as energy efficiency improvements, installation of alternative and advanced energy technologies, and installation of grid resilience measures.

Grant   Contractor Training Grant (Training for Residential Energy Contractors, or TREC, program) Residential energy efficiency and electrical contractors Training for Residential Energy Contractors (TREC) program. The goal of the program is to train, test, and certify residential energy efficiency and electrical contractors. The Indiana OED is partnering with DWD to develop and implement efforts that will prepare contractors and their employees to bring energy efficient technologies into homes. TBD  TBD
Loan   Indiana Energy Efficiency Fund (IEEF) Commercial To institute funding through loans and grants for commercial energy audits, upgrades, and retrofits to increase energy efficiency, physical comfort, and air quality of existing building infrastructure. Commercial Open Rolling
RFP   Indiana-Focused Battery Energy Storage Systems Study (State Energy Program)   To research utility-scale battery energy storage systems technology and provide best practices for local governments and utilities looking to implement these technologies in their communities. Closed Closed
Grant   Empowering Energy Partnerships in Indiana Communities (EPIC) Non-profit organizations, For-profit entities, Institutions of higher education, and Local units of government To support community-based energy priorities that support comprehensive and impactful solutions with a focus on developing and enhancing partnerships. RFS   Home Energy Rebates Contractor  

To assist in the program planning and design outlining the approach to deployment, and program implementation, coordination, and administration of the Home Energy Rebate programs (HOMES, HEAR).

Grid Resilience Program (IIJA 40101(d) Preventing Outages and Enhancing the Resilience of the Electric Grid)

Electric utilities

Improve resilience of the electric grid against disruptive events through physical upgrades, incorporating technology, and analyses. Workforce development necessary to achieve improvements is also supported.

To conduct an Indiana-specific study in order to better understand SMR technology, the benefits and drawbacks of its deployment, and its applicability to the state.

Community Energy Security Planning Grant (State Energy Program)

County governments, Towns, Cities, Regional Planning Organizations, or Nonprofits working on behalf of communities

The funding opportunity allows for efforts to develop, enhance, and implement local energy security planning to ensure more reliable and resilient energy infrastructure. An energy security plan will identify, assess, and mitigate risks to energy infrastructure and to plan for, respond to, and recover from events that disrupt energy supply.
