All residents of Indiana are eligible for a library card from the Indiana State Library. This card allows patrons to check out items that circulate from the State Library Collection.

Circulation of materials from the Indiana State Library collections are limited to titles published after 1950. All are encouraged to visit the library to use the library collections for information and research or to take advantage of the library photocopy service. The Indiana State Library can assist you in finding primary and secondary source material for your research needs. This catalog includes over 5,300 records from manuscript collections located in the Genealogy Division and the Rare Books and Manuscripts Division. We continue to add new finding aids as collections are acquired and processed. Requests to view unprocessed collections require an advance notice of at least 3 business days. The library reserves the right to decline permission to view a collection due to restrictions.
