Little Lew’s Star is a multimedia stage production including cast depicting important Indiana history of 1832 and modern night sky projections, appropriate constellation and aurora borealis. This play is cast from school and community actors. It presents the David Wallace family as they are to leave Brookville for Indianapolis.

Q&A with Legacy Project Coordinator Julia Teuschler

What do you consider the key accomplishment of your Legacy Project?

  • Reconnect the local community to the importance of Brookville as the birthplace of author Lew Wallace and his world renowned book BenHur: A Tale of The Christ. Using a play genre, Lew's life was affected forever by his mother reading the Gospel of Mathew 2 to him as a child.

Describe a highlight or most memorable moment related to your Legacy Project.

  • Performing it as an interactive Readers Theater in a building he and his family would have visited, the (Goodwin Family) Old Brick Church in the Brookville Cemetery, 2019 West 10th Street, Brookville, IN. 47012. 7:30 p.m. Dec. 30, 2016

How/where are you preserving information and artifacts related to your Legacy Project.

  • Script copies with bibliography and staging drawings are available. Probably in the Brookville Library, though this is not established yet. I have not made a digital copy of my music CD or bulletin board pictures. It should be done.
