The Stockbridge Audubon Society of Northeast Indiana in honor of the Bicentennial and longtime member Ted Heemstra has created the Ted Heemstra Memorial Award for Outstanding Contributions to Northeast Indiana Birding. Ted died May 19, 2016. He was active in the community and used his time and talents to make Northeast Indiana a better place to live. Stockbridge board created this award to all those that have given to bird conservation and to teach others about the birds of Northeast Indiana. A plaque will be placed in the Vera Dunlin observation Building at Fox Island County Park.
