Harrison Log Cabin

As the state of Indiana celebrates its 200th birthday, the Historical Society of Harrison County and the Harrison County Public Library firmly believe in the importance of providing public access to view historic artifacts from Harrison County’s rich history. Corydon is where the state’s history began, and the Harrison Exhibit contributes valuable information to the bicentennial celebration. Hundreds of artifacts from the library’s collection are tastefully displayed with interpretive signage in the William Henry Harrison Log Cabin, one of the nine buildings remaining in Corydon from the Capital Period (1816-1825). Historical Society of Harrison County volunteers are staffing the exhibit daily. Summer hours are Monday-Saturday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sunday, 1 – 5 p.m.

What do you consider the key accomplishment of your Legacy Project?

  • The Historical Society of Harrison County and the Harrison County Public Library opened an exhibit in the Historic William Henry Harrison Log Cabin that celebrates and showcases Harrison County artifacts.

Describe a highlight or most memorable moment related to your Legacy Project.

  • Over 2,000+ visitors came through the Harrison History Exhibit. Each visit was a celebration of the Indiana Bicentennial, as well as Harrison County History.

How/where are you preserving information and artifacts related to your Legacy Project?

  • William Henry Harrison Log Cabin.
