Legacy Projects > Otterbein Little Free Libraries Otterbein Little Free Libraries
Little Free Libraries are small outdoor structures that are placed throughout a community to house a miniature lending library. The Otterbein Rotary will purchase three structures that model small school houses, or very large birdhouses, to house free books for community residents. The Rotary plans to establish them in high-traffic areas, including the one and only grocery store, the ball diamonds, and the town park. Upon installing these structures, the Rotary Club and the public library will supply the initial stock of books, then the club and library will take turns ensuring the maintenance and stewardship of the units for future generations of readers in the community. The Indiana Bicentennial seal will be prominent on promotional materials, and many Indiana authors will be featured.
