Food Complaints (Microbiology)
Consumer Complaint sample submitted for analyses will only be accepted from the Indiana State Department of Health Food Protection Division and/or other government agencies. (Local Health Departments)

Food products and some non-food products sold in retail establishments or restaurants can be Consumer Complaint samples.
The sample should be collected in its original packing material. If not, an appropriate sterile container should be used to collect the sample. A control sample of the identical product with the same date and manufacturer code or prepared in the same day of the complaint needs to be collected with the complaint sample.
For sample collection contact your Local Health Department or IDOH Food Protection Program.
- A sample should meet all following criteria before it is accepted for analysis:
- Sample should be in original manufacturer’s packing material or an appropriate sterile container.
- The sample must be delivered in satisfactory physical condition and without any leakage.
A control sample of the identical product with the same date and manufacturer code should be with the sample.
