The Indiana Department of Revenue (DOR) issues a Worker’s Compensation Exemption Clearance Certificate to individual taxpayers who are independent contractors or otherwise not required to carry worker’s compensation insurance under the Worker’s Compensation Act of Indiana.
To receive this clearance certificate, individual taxpayers must meet the following requirements:
- All Indiana tax returns must be filed and up to date.
- All outstanding tax delinquencies must be paid in full.
- All payments must be made using guaranteed funds.
- Form WCE-1 must be filed using guaranteed funds for the $20.00 non-refundable application fee.
