Statistics and highlights of Indiana Supreme Court work available online

The Indiana Supreme Court annual report is available online. Chief Justice Loretta Rush will speak to media about the report on Wednesday, November 9 at 2:00 p.m. (Eastern) in the Supreme Court Law Library (State House Room 316). Press interested in attending should RSVP to Sarah Kidwell.

The 65-page Supreme Court annual report provides information about the work of the Court and its affiliated agencies during the fiscal year (July 1, 2021, to June 30, 2022). In addition to providing statistics on the cases considered by the Court, the report also details the administrative work of the judicial branch.

Some of the information included in the data, milestones, and important projects, include:

  • The five justices reviewed more than 630 cases, heard 37 oral arguments, and handed down 56 majority opinions
  • 77% of Court opinions were unanimous
  • More than 8 million documents were e-filed statewide
  • More 9 million users viewed over 52 million pages at mycase.in.gov
  • New committees created by the Court include an Equity & Access Commission and an Eviction Task Force
  • Progress of the Innovation Initiative includes the Attorney Dashboard on mycase.in.gov
  • More than 60,000 requests for help were handled by Court Technology
  • Nearly 32,000 hours of trial court hearings were live streamed
  • 23,000 children were served by CASA advocates
  • The work of judicial selection commissions around the state included filling 5 trial court vacancies and 2 appellate court vacancies
  • More than 1,200 hours of education were delivered to judicial officers and justice system stakeholders
