2. Online Training
A self-paced online Core Training Program is also required as part of the GAL Guidelines. This training is provided by Kids’ Voice and the Indiana Supreme Court through the Indiana Judicial Branch Education Network. You will be notified when access to the online Core Training Program in the Network is granted, as part of completing your GAL Application. You can begin or continue your GAL Application if you haven't already done so.

Registrants must complete both the in-person and online components of the training to receive a certificate of completion.

For attorneys, the in-person training component has been approved for 7 hours of CLE credit, including 1 hour of ethics credit.

Please keep an eye out for added training dates in the future. For more information and to register, please visit: Guardian ad Litem State Guidelines Training - Kids' Voice Of Indiana.

Guardian Ad Litem Ongoing Training

Ongoing training for GALs will officially begin January 1, 2026. Please note that any courses completed in 2025 will not count toward the 2026 six-hour ongoing training requirement.

Approved training modules will be available through the Indiana Judicial Branch Education Network. These courses will be offered at no cost, and most will be eligible for Continuing Legal Education (CLE) credit. All GALs are given an account on the Indiana Judicial Branch Education Network. You received an email with your login credentials shortly after your application was approved. If you cannot access your account, please contact us, and we will be happy to assist you.

In addition to the courses offered through the Network, other relevant courses or CLE opportunities that are not accessed through the Indiana Judicial Branch Education Network may also qualify as GAL ongoing training, provided they are directly related to GAL work as outlined in Rule 2.2 of the GAL Guidelines. Further details regarding this approval process and required documentation will be shared closer to January 1, 2026.

If you are offering a CLE course that may qualify as ongoing training for GALs as outlined in Rule 2.2 of the Guidelines and wish to request pre-approval for Continuing GAL Training credit, please submit the course description to FamilyLawGAL@courts.in.gov.
