Overview
Admission and Discipline Rule 6 governs Admissions on Reciprocity and Business Counsel License. The Indiana State Board of Law Examiners is charged with the responsibility of overseeing the admission of attorneys from other states seeking to be admitted in Indiana without taking the bar examination.
All applicants for admission on Reciprocity or Business Counsel License are required to have a character and fitness interview with a member of the Board of Law Examiners. In some instances, a personal interview before the full Board of Law Examiners may be required before admission is approved.
Education Requirements for Admissions on Reciprocity
Admission and Discipline Rule 6 provides that all applicants admitted to the practice of law via reciprocity or on a business counsel license shall be required to complete the Indiana Law Course—a jurisdiction-specific component on Indiana law—no later than six months after the date of the applicant’s admission to the Indiana bar.
