Programs
Home/School Based Programs
Home Based Programs serve children and adolescents who are currently on probation or displaying at-risk behaviors. Each child served will receive support from a case manager within the home, school, and community. Overall goals of the program include assisting children/adolescents and their families with stress management by learning new coping strategies, providing support by linking to community resources and promoting positive school relationships, implementing skill-building strategies to improve behavior, social skills, and interpersonal skills, and offering educational opportunities related to behavior management, parenting, and child-specific needs.
Outpatient Therapy
Many issues today can be sorted out with the help of a trained professional. Outpatient therapy occurs at a local mental health center weekly, bi-weekly, or even monthly to attempt to work with the youth with issues with substance abuse, issues at home, supporting positive change, and overall functioning.
Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT)
MRT is an evidence based cognitive behavioral treatment program that follows a step by step treatment strategy. MRT enhances moral reasoning and improves decision making. The group meets weekly for 12 weeks at the Probation Dept.
Substance Abuse Treatment
Drug and alcohol abuse is a common issue with the youth serviced at the Juvenile Probation Dept. We serve children by referring them to local mental health services and/or placing them in the MRT (Moral Reconation Therapy) Program . MRT is a weekly group that meets for 12 weeks at the Juvenile Probation Dept. The Probation Dept also does drug screening on youth who are ordered by the court to be supervised.
Adolescent Intramural Mentoring Program (AIM)
The AIM Program pairs at-risk youth with positive adult mentors from the community. The youth and mentors participate in YMCA league volleyball and a fishing program.
Community Service
The Probation Department officers regularly complete community Service hours along side the youth who have been ordered to complete Community Service as a condition of their probation. The hours are completed at the Emmaus Food Pantry in Logansport . The Food Pantry makes approximately 2000 distributions each month. This is a positive experience for the youth and the Probation Officer.
