Indiana Counties Currently Impacted by Control Area/Surveillance Zone

The Indiana State Board of Animal Health recommends the suspension of regulatory activity requiring visits to sites with poultry or avian species throughout the county where an active Control Area or Surveillance Zone has been established.

If site visits cannot be avoided, partners should exercise exceptional biosecurity practices including pre-visit notifications, downtime between farms, PPE, seasonal influenza vaccinations, and avoiding live poultry, wild birds, and their droppings.

When a Control Area and/or Surveillance Zone is established around an infected premises, they may be released/discontinued as soon as 14 days later, pending response activity timelines and additional findings. A new diagnosis of HPAI within a county would lead to an extension of BOAH’s county-wide recommendations.
