Requirements for Providing Services and Prescriptions through Telehealth

Pursuant to IC 25-1-9.5, certain licensed practitioners and prescribers, as well as their employers or contractors, are required to comply with specific regulatory requirements when providing telehealth services to patients in Indiana. Information about these specific regulatory requirements is available here.

Health Workforce Data

Data collected from health professionals during license renewal is a best practice for informing health workforce planning.  Over the last several decades, the State of Indiana has committed to collecting information from health professionals during online license renewal. This data has been used to inform various initiatives, including: Health Professional Shortage Area designations at the Indiana State Department of Health’s Primary Care Office, supporting State Loan Repayment Program implementation, Medicaid provider analysis and recruitment, Primary Care Needs Assessments, and various technical reports and policy briefs on Indiana’s health professionals. Survey questions asked with the online renewal process provide information which is collected by the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency and evaluated by the Bowen Center for Health Workforce Research & Policy. Please visit https://bowenportal.org/ for previous survey data and additional health workforce reports.
