On June 24, 2026, the Optometry Board approved the proposed rule, LSA #25-626 . With the non-Rule Policy (https://iar.iga.in.gov/register/20251203-IR-852250731NRA), listed under the 2024 and 2025 announcements, expiring as of September 1, 2026, and the final rule, once in effect, being retroactive to September 1, 2026, the board will not be enforcing the requirement for applicants to submit scores from the ISE and LSPE under the current rule located at 852 IAC 1-1.1-4 and 852 IAC 1-2.1-2 (https://iar.iga.in.gov/code/2026/852/1). Applicants are only obligated to submit passing scores from Parts I, II, III and TMOD.

  • 12/03/2025 -The Optometry Board recently adopted a new non-rule policy (Non-Rule Policy Document #25-731), delaying the enforcement of the new exam requirements under 852 IAC 1-1.1-4 and 852 IAC 1-2.1-2. The board's non-rule policy document can be found on the Indiana Register page. Applicants will remain obligated to submit passing scores from Parts I, II, III and TMOD as listed under 852 IAC 1-1.1-4 and 852 IAC 1-2.1-2.  The Board will enforce the new requirement for applicants to submit scores from the ISE and LSPE listed under 852 IAC 1-1.1-4 and 852 IAC 1-2.1-2, as indicated in bold typeface below, on September 1, 2026.
  • 12/11/2024 - The Optometry Board recently adopted a new non-rule policy (Non-Rule Policy Document #24-491), delaying the enforcement of the new exam requirements under 852 IAC 1-1.1-4 and 852 IAC 1-2.1-2. The Board's non-rule policy document can be found here on the Indiana Register, and is also available below under "Resources," within the "Non-Rule Policies Adopted by the Board" container. Applicants will remain obligated to submit passing scores from Parts I, II, III, and TMOD as listed under 852 IAC 1-1.1-4 and 852 IAC 1-2.1-2. The Board will enforce the new requirement for applicants to submit scores from the ISE and LSPE listed under 852 IAC 1-1.1-4 and 852 IAC 1-2.1-2, as indicated in bold typeface within the policy, on January 1, 2026.
