The Indiana Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force is a multiagency task force that investigates and prosecutes persons who use the internet to sexually exploit or entice children. The Indiana State Police oversees the Indiana ICAC Task Force.
The Indiana ICAC is one of sixty-one (61) regional ICAC Task Forces from across the United States. The United States Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) funds these regional task forces. The Indiana ICAC is comprised of over fifty (50) local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies.
In 1998, OJJDP developed the ICAC Task Force program to help local and state law enforcement combat the significant increase in technology facilitated child exploitation. The purpose of the ICAC Task Force program is to provide law enforcement with the necessary training, technical assistance, equipment, and resources to aid in the areas of investigations and digital forensics; prosecution; and prevention via community outreach/public awareness programs.
Since the inception of the Indiana ICAC in 2005, there has been a significant increase in complaints concerning the online sexual exploitation and enticement of children. In 2021, the Indiana ICAC received over 7500 CyberTips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC).
The Indiana ICAC Task Force encourages Hoosiers to report all online exploitation, solicitation, and enticement type crimes against children to the NCMEC. To report a crime against your child involving the Internet or other electronic means, please contact your local Indiana law enforcement agency.
