Drug-Facilitated Sexual Clinical Response & Investigation: Advanced Training for Forensic Nurse, Law Enforcement, & Allied Professionals
  • May 15, 2026
  • 9 a.m. - 4:45 p.m.
  • Ruth Lilly Health Education Center, Indy

Drug‑facilitated crimes (DFCs), including drug‑facilitated sexual assaults (DFSAs), present complex challenges for responders and investigators. This training offers a clear overview of how alcohol and other central nervous system depressants are used to impair victims, the signs and symptoms commonly associated with DFSAs, and the ways these substances influence memory, reporting, and evidence collection.

Participants will learn foundational concepts in alcohol and drug pharmacokinetics—how substances are absorbed, metabolized, and eliminated—as well as topics such as standard drink comparisons, intoxication stages, and the mechanisms behind alcohol‑induced blackouts. These scientific principles help contextualize victim experiences and provide critical support for investigative decision‑making.

Drawing on the expertise of a multidisciplinary team of professionals, this training offers a look at how DFSAs are addressed across the legal, investigative, and clinical spectrum. By exploring a range of substances, case‑based challenges, and proven approaches for navigating obstacles, participants will leave with a well‑rounded understanding of how to respond to these cases effectively and compassionately.
