Purpose Statement
The Indiana History Collaborative first convened in 2005 with the support of Governor Mitch Daniels. It was originally charged with preparing for major anniversaries significant to both national and state history such as Indiana’s bicentennial.
Today, the History Collaborative seeks to update and educate members on collaborative programming, the state of the history field, institutional changes, networking opportunities, and to foster discussion and partnerships among colleagues.
Membership
The Collaborative is intended for professionals working in the humanities, public history, library, or an adjacent field and who provide cultural and educational programming to Hoosiers.
We encourage members to bring interns they are supervising with them! If you plan on bringing interns to a meeting, please let us know in the meeting RSVP.
Meeting Format
The History Collaborative meets bimonthly for approximately 2-3 hours. A typical meeting will include:
- organizational updates
- a seminar-style discussion on topics relevant to the field
- an optional professional networking activity such as an institutional tour.
Organizations outside of Indianapolis can participate in the organizational updates section of the meeting virtually via Microsoft Teams.
Hosting a Meeting
We encourage different members of the History Collaborative to host the meetings and showcase their organization’s facilities, exhibits, and work! Ideally, hosts would be able to provide a meeting space for 20-30 attendees and WiFi for those attending virtually.
If you would like to host a meeting, please contact Kelsey Green (kelgreen@library.in.gov).
