The following is an archived post from the IHB blog Marking Hoosier History.
Did you know that it’s National Volunteer Week? This unofficial observance has been around since 1974, and celebrates the volunteers who make a difference in our communities. So much of what we do here at IHB would be impossible without volunteers. Citizens throughout Indiana enable us to manage a great State Historical Marker Program via their efforts to survey, photograph, document, propose, repair, and restore these valuable assets.
We also have two dedicated volunteers that help us assist citizens and share our research by lending a hand around the office, from helping customers in the Book Shop to doing research and data entry.
To all our volunteers around the state, THANK YOU!
