Starting July 2020, Indiana legislation requires school corporations and charter schools to enter into a memorandum of understanding with a community mental health center or a mental health provider certified or licensed by the state. The full legislation can be found in Section 2 of Senate Enrolled Act No. 246.
The Division of Mental Health and Addiction developed the Indiana school-mental health provider memorandum of understanding to provide sample MOU language and guidance as schools enter into these partnerships. DMHA also released a complementary communication to further clarify the purpose and intent of the MOU guidance.
