Tuition and Fee Exemption
Indiana Code 21-14-4-1
What is the Benefit?
- Tuition and fee exemption for up to 124 credit hours
- Applicable at state-sponsored universities (list)
- Up to a $5,000 grant of tuition and regularly assessed fees per academic year
- For students who graduated high school in 2023 and after
- For the undergraduate resident tuition rate
- Applicable at Indiana private, non-profit colleges and universities (list)
Who Might be Eligible?
- Children of Indiana Veterans with wartime service who have a service-connected disability rating from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs
- Children of Indiana Veterans with hazardous duty equal to wartime service who have a service-connected disability rating from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs
- Children of Veterans with POW/MIA status after January 1, 1960
- Children of Purple Heart recipients
- Indiana Veterans who were awarded the Purple Heart Medal
- Former students of the Indiana Solder’s and Sailor’s Home
How to Apply:
- All applications are completed on Scholar Track
- Scholar Track accounts can be accessed and requested at the following link: https://scholartrack.che.in.gov
- Approved students will also need to file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for each year they want to use the exemption.
- Students must list all state educational institutions where they will be using the exemption that FAFSA year.
- Award letters will be available online in Scholar Track beginning August 1st of each year for each state educational institution listed on that FAFSA.
