I have been approved,...Now what ?
- If you have not already, complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) FAFSA years begin AUG 1 - JUL 31 of the following year
- be sure to list all schools you will attend during the FAFSA year you want to use the exemption at
- FAFSA will interface with your Scholar Track account and generate award letters for each school listed on the FAFSA in Scholar Track not later than AUG 1 each FAFSA year
- When you see your award letter for Tuition and Fee Exemption- Child of a Disabled Veteran or Child of a Purple Heart Recipient ( Or other relevant category ) in the My State Aid box in Scholar Track you should contact the financial aid office at the school to let them know you wish to use the CVO program so they can deduct the appropriate tuition cost from your bill. Refer to this as State Aid and NOT VA education benefits so it is not confused with Federal VA GI Bill benefits
- You will need to complete a FAFSA for each year you intend to use the exemption of tuition cost
- You do not need to reapply once approved in Scholar Track
- If you have questions about the program after approval, please contact either the school's financial aid office or the Indiana Commission for Higher Education student support line at 888-528-4719. The Indiana Department of Veterans' Affairs only determines eligibility for this state aid program.
