Email notice

In an effort to promote a more efficient and faster service, the Division of Water is  utilizing electronic mail services whenever possible to send out correspondence instead of mailing the correspondence via regular U.S. postal service.

As a state agency that encourages wise use of our natural resources, using electronic mail will reduce the use of paper, envelopes, printer ink, landfill space, and more. Therefore, this notice is to inform you that the Division of Water is sending out our Incomplete Application Notices, Application Receipt Acknowledgement Notices, Floodplain Analysis / Regulatory Assessments (floodplain information letters), and courtesy copies of Department Actions to customers as an email attachment.

Make sure to add to your safe contact list in your email program to receive correspondence regarding permit applications, floodplain information, etc.

If any email is returned as undeliverable, the Division of Water staff will attempt to contact the customer to obtain a valid email address. For our customers who do not have email service or a valid email address, the Division will mail these letters by regular U.S. postal service as we have done in the past.

SPECIAL NOTE: Due to the Administrative Orders and Procedures Act, IC 14-11-4, Certificate of Approvals, Denial Notices, and Termination Notices that are issued under the regulatory programs that are administered by the Division of Water, such as construction in a floodway or public freshwater lake, must be sent by U.S. postal mail to the applicant, agent, adjacent landowners, and interested parties.
