Granulate Ambrosia Beetle

Asian Ambrosia Beetle

In 2002, the DNR Division of Entomology & Plant Pathology detected Granulate Ambrosia Beetle in Indiana.

Since that time the pest has been found in multiple counties throughout the state.

Damage is typically seen as toothpick-like frass spikes that project from the tree trunk about the time when leaves begin to emerge on trees. Peak flight of adults is usually in spring, but damage can occur anytime during the growing season on both stressed and healthy deciduous hosts.

Severely infested trees should be destroyed. Pesticides can protect trees with low or no infestations levels.
