Director

Jennifer Dorfmeyer is the Director of Indiana's Department of Child Services, appointed in April 2026 by Governor Mike Braun.

Jennifer is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who began her career at The Salvation Army, serving individuals with substance use disorders, before dedicating ten years to DCS in various roles. While advancing through the ranks at DCS, Jennifer also contributed to the development of future social workers as an instructor at the Indiana University School of Social Work’s graduate program.

In 2014, Jennifer expanded her expertise to the private sector as a Program Director at a residential treatment center. She further honed her skills as an Independent Child Welfare Coach and Consultant in Los Angeles County, California, where she trained staff on the Shared Core Practice Model—a collaborative, team-based approach to child protection.

Prior to returning to DCS, Jennifer served as Vice President of Midwest Operations at Choices Coordinated Care Solutions, overseeing day-to-day operations in Indiana and Ohio. Her work there emphasized care coordination and program development for diverse populations, including youth in foster care and adults with substance use disorders.

In 2025, Jennifer returned to DCS as the Chief Deputy Director, leading the agency’s child protection and welfare efforts.

In addition to her professional accomplishments, Jennifer is a former foster parent whose son was adopted from the child welfare system. She is married and the proud mother of five children, bringing a deep personal commitment and understanding to her work with children and families in Indiana.
