The State's biennial budget was passed by the Indiana General Assembly, and one of the provisions in the budget is to create new student teacher stipend programs for students. These programs can begin as early as the 2013-2014 academic year.
This program will be for minority students (defined as black and Hispanic individuals) who plan to teach.
An individual may apply for this stipend if the individual:
The student must show that he/she will engage in student teaching during the upcoming academic term. The stipend will be a maximum of $5,000 (if the student has a GPA of at least 3.5 on a 4.0 scale) or $4,000 (if the student has a GPA of at least 3.0 and less than 3.5 on a 4.0 scale).
If you are the appropriate contact for an institution's School of Education and have not already done so, please provide your contact information (name, phone number, email address) to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Questions about the program may be directed to Amanda Stanley at email@example.com.
Students who will be teaching during the Fall 2013 term must complete the Stipend application on or before Friday, October 4, 2013. Students who will be teaching during the Spring 2014 term are encouraged to apply now if they know where they will be student teaching. For those students who have not yet received their placement, a spring term deadline will be designated at a later time.
