The Indiana State Personnel Department offers a variety of training courses throughout the year to supplement agency specific training. In compliance with state and federal legal requirements, we partner with Business and Legal Reports (BLR) to offer authoritative content and practical, easy-to-use tools. All of the BLR trainings are computer based and easily launched through PeopleSoft ELM.
You can review the course catalogs by logging directly into ELM https://hr.gmis.in.gov/lmprd/signon.html and follow this path: ELM Training/Main Menu/Self Service/Browse Catalog or by viewing our current computer based catalog or instructor-led training library. These BLR courses are available through June 30, 2016.
Please note: The BLR courses were not developed specifically for Indiana state government; therefore, while the materials illustrate some general employment concepts, they do not supersede any laws, rules, or policies/procedures directly applicable to State of Indiana employees, supervisor and workplaces.
Manager and Supervisor Trainings: These courses are tailored to manager and supervisors to help define and develop the necessary skills while providing tools that will help leaders. Some of the topics covered include: Documentation, Managing Conflict, Difficult Conversations, Coaching for Superior Employee Performance, Conducting Performance Evaluations, Employee Privacy, Violence, Harassment, Hiring and Firing.
Health and Safety Trainings: This library helps employees learn why safety is such an important workplace issue and how to take an active role in promoting workplace safety and health. Some of the topics in this catalog include: Avoiding Back Injuries, Blood Borne Pathogens, Basic First Aid for Medical Emergencies, Hazard Communications, Fire Prevention, Office Ergonomics, Slip Trip and Fall, What You Need to Know About Identify Theft, Workplace Safety and Office Hazards.
Customer Service Training: This library is available to help expand our abilities to meet and exceed customer expectations. Some of the topics include: Business Writing, Conflict Resolution, Connecting with Customers, How to Promote Excellent Service, Email Best Practices, Customer Service Skills – How We Can All Improve, Effective Communication, Handling Customer Complaints, Managing Time, Identifying Customers Needs and How to Maintain Customer Loyalty.

State Personnel partners with a few different agencies to provide instructor lead training courses. These courses are held in the Indiana Government Center South building, conference room 16 unless otherwise noted. Please review the information below for more specific information including dates of when these courses are offered. Remember to seek supervisor approval before signing up for a course.
