Welcome to the Indiana Secretary of State's Revised Article 9 Center!
Revised Article 9 is the new law governing secured transactions in Indiana and throughout the nation. It will take effect July 1, 2001.
The new law, favored by the Indiana Bankers Association, Community Bankers Association and the Indiana State Bar Association, will significantly change the administration of Article 9 of the Uniform Commercial Code in Indiana. It promises to bring UCC law into the 21st Century, and beginning July 1, 2002, to make this Indiana Secretary of State's office the central filing office for the entire state. That is, few filings will continue to be perfected at the County Recorder's office as of July 1, 2002.
Because of the sweeping changes, Secretary of State Rokita and the Business Services Division of the Secretary of State's office have organized a team representing interested parties to study the new law and disseminate information so that Revised Article 9 can be implemented successfully.
Part of the Secretary of State's effort includes this website, which is meant to act as an information clearing house and communication hub for our customers, bankers, attorneys, and the Indiana County Clerks.
A special recognition is in order for all of the team members involved:
- Indiana Recorders Association
- Indiana Bankers Association
- Indiana State Bar Association
- Indiana Association of Counties
- Community Bankers Association
- Indiana County Recorders
- Indiana Secretary of State Staff
Please bookmark this site and continue to visit for updated information. We all look forward to improving secured transaction law in Indiana and working for the people of Indiana.
Sincerely,
Connie Lawson
Secretary of State
