AES 2025 Rate Case

AES Indiana's rate case is pending before the IURC in Cause No. 46258. The utility initially requested a $192.9 Million rate increase.

The OUCC's analysis shows that a $21.2 Million reduction to current base rates is warranted, based on the case’s evidence and applicable law. OUCC testimony is posted below and summarized in our Sept. 10, 2025 news release.

AES Indiana, industrial customers, Walmart, and the City of Indianapolis filed a settlement agreement with the IURC on Oct. 15, 2025.

  • The OUCC and the Citizens Action Coalition of Indiana are not parties to the settlement.
  • Additional OUCC testimony in response to the settlement is due on Dec. 12, 2025.
    • Written comments from the public regarding the settlement are invited through Dec. 5, 2025.
  • A settlement hearing is scheduled to start on Jan. 28, 2026.
  • Any agreement before the IURC can be approved, denied, or modified. The settling parties have the burden of proof to show that an agreement is in the public interest.

The deadline for a final IURC order is June 24, 2026.

All publicly filed documents in the case are available on the IURC website.

AES Indiana's current base rates received Commission approval in April 2024.
