Citizens Energy Group received Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission (IURC) approval to raise its rates and charges for water and sewer service in 2014.

The utility has notified the IURC that it plans to file a new water rate case in the near future (but no sooner than June 19, 2015). This page will be updated with case information.

Current water rates

In a March 19, 2014 order, the IURC granted Citizens Energy Group a water rate increase of approximately 9 percent. By comparison, the utility had requested a 14.7 percent increase with the OUCC recommending limiting the increase to about 3 percent.

The OUCC's news releases on the Commission order and on the agency's June 2013 testimony offer additional information.

Current sewer rates

The IURC's April 23, 2014 order modified a settlement agreement between the OUCC and Citizens, granting a sewer rate increase of approximately $50 million. By comparison, the utility originally requested a $56.7 million increase while the OUCC recommended a $46.5 million increase in its August 2013 testimony.

For more information, please see the OUCC's news releases on its August testimony and the Commission order.

A public field hearing in both rate cases was held on May 16, 2013. The OUCC issued a May 6, 2013 news release to publicize the hearing and invite consumer comments.

To review the public files for these cases, please visit the IURC's Electronic Document System and enter Docket Number 44305 for the sewer rate case or Docket Number 44306 for the water case.
