Indiana’s contributions to the Union during the Civil War are well-documented, largely through government reports, state commissions, regimental histories, and veterans’ organizations. There are many printed resources that chronicle the service of local men. Regimental information may be available in compiled rosters along with county histories. Many more materials in the library collections can be found by searching the online catalog. This subject guide should serve as a starting point to locate statewide materials available. The Rare Books and Manuscripts Division also has Civil War-era letters and diaries, finding aids, and a variety of digital resources.
