Purpose

The Language Access Task Force was created by the Indiana Supreme Court to address the issue of providing effective, fair, and efficient language access in Indiana courts. The twelve-member task force works to improve access to courts for Limited English Proficient (LEP) individuals. The task force includes members of the Indiana State Bar Association, state judicial officers, prosecutors and defense attorneys, the education community, the deaf community and/or advocates for the deaf community, attorneys who regularly represent LEP clients, and members of the interpreter profession.
