Environmental Services Training Courses
INDOT ESD offers several training opportunities for environmental document preparers and practitioners. To enroll and complete any course offered via INDOT ESD, you must have an account through the INDOT Training Portal. NEPA Initial Training
Participants in this training will receive detailed instructions covering environmental considerations required under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) of 1969 and others. Participants will also learn about various policies on work done for INDOT and FHWA. This course is one of the requirements to be prequalified for environmental work for INDOT projects. The NEPA Initial Training is broken into two courses. The first segment is an online course through INDOT's Training Portal which is self paced. Completion of the online training is a prerequisite for the in-person training. Upon completion of both the online and in-person training, participants will be certified in the INDOT NEPA project development process.

Categorical Exclusion
Participants in this course will receive detailed instructions on the preparation of Categorical Exclusions (CE) for INDOT. Participants will also learn of various policies governing work done for INDOT and FHWA. This course is the second requirement needed to be prequalified for environmental work for INDOT projects. This course is in two parts. The first segment is online through INDOT's Training Portal. It is self-paced. Completion of the online training is a prerequisite for the in-person training. Upon completion of both the online and in-class training, participants will be certified in the INDOT CE process.

NEPA/CE Refresher
Participants will receive updated information covering environmental considerations required under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) of 1969. The NEPA Refresher is required every two years to retain NEPA certification for environmental work for INDOT projects. This course is presented online through INDOT's Training Portal. It is self-paced and there is no cost for this training.

The Refresher training is asynchronous except for scheduled updates that will be announced through via Listserv. Please click here to register.
Participants will have two weeks to complete the online training through INDOT's Training Portal.
Red Flag Investigation Training
This class is designed to focus on developing RFI reports, reviewed by the INDOT SAM Team. To enroll in a free course, use the Find Learning box in the INDOT Training Portal to search for the course.

Bat Investigations for Field Personnel
This class supports INDOT's implementation of the USFWS/FHWA/FTA/FRA programmatic informal consultation for the Indiana bat and the northern long-eared bat. The class is self-paced and online through INDOT's Training Portal. To enroll in the course, you will need an INDOT Training Portal account. Once the account is created and approved, you will be able to use the Find Learning box to search for and enroll into the course.
