Historic Maps

INDOT marked its 100th anniversary in July 2019, a milestone that celebrated the  awarding of the first state highway contracts by the Indiana State Highway Commission, the predecessor to the Indiana Department of Transportation.

Over the past 100 years, INDOT and its predecessors have been responsible for building, maintaining and operating interstate highways, U.S. routes, and state roads, including adjacent overpasses and ramps, traffic control devices, and signs and traffic signals, within the state of Indiana. State roadway maps have tracked the growth of Indiana’s road network over the last century.
