Union Chapel & I-69 Interchange

This project involved construction of a new interchange at Interstate 69 and Union Chapel Road. Completed in 2013, the new interchange reduces congestion at the State Road 1/Dupont Road interchange and provides better local and regional movement throughout northern Fort Wayne and outlying communities.

The Union Chapel Road interchange includes on- and off-ramps in each direction of northbound and southbound I-69, and roundabouts on the east and west end of the Union Chapel Road bridge. During the project, Union Chapel Road was closed to traffic over I-69 while workers constructed the bridge, the west roundabout and three interchange ramps. The road and ramps reopened to traffic in December 2012. The east roundabout and remaining ramp opened to traffic in August 2013.

In conjunction with this project, INDOT and Allen County built a roundabout intersection east of the interchange at Union Chapel Road and Diebold Road. This roundabout intersection opened to traffic in August 2013. Another roundabout, built at nearby Union Chapel Road and Auburn Road, opened in December 2013.
