Monitor Service Providers
What is Monitoring?
As the federally mandated Protection and Advocacy (P&A) System for the state of Indiana, IDR may conduct independent monitoring visits of public and private facilities that provide services to people with disabilities. This includes facilities that provide services to both children and adults. During a monitoring visit, IDR staff may speak with the clients receiving services about any concerns or complaints and to also provide resources about their legal rights and IDR’s advocacy services. IDR may also speak with staff, examine the facility, and review program documents regarding suspected abuse and neglect.
Facilities that Indiana Disability Rights may monitor
Public and private psychiatric hospitals
Community mental health centers, acute care hospitals, and inpatient mental health facilities
County jails and juvenile detention centers
Facilities operated by the Indiana Department of Correction
Group homes
Nursing homes and county homes
Comprehensive rehabilitative management facilities licensed through BDDS
Child caring institutions and other youth residential providers
Skilled nursing care facilities for children
Intermediate care facilities
Day service programs
Waiver providers
