Indianapolis – The Indiana Commission for Women (ICW) will honor the recipients of the 2015 Torchbearer Awards today, September 30, 2015, at its annual Ceremony held at the Indiana Historical Society, 450 West Ohio Street. The Torchbearer Awards ceremony recognizes women of Indiana who have been pioneers throughout their lives or who have stepped forward as leaders by breaking down barriers. These women have become true beacons of light and their stories of courage, perseverance and compassion create a lasting legacy and inspiration for us all. This year’s Torchbearer recipients are:
- Toby Strout, Middle Way House, Bloomington
- Cynthia Newman, Raising Queens Initiative Indianapolis
- Kathy Cabello, Cabello and Associates, Indianapolis
- Dottie King, Saint Mary-of-the-Woods, Terre Haute
- Sue Anne Gilroy, St. Vincent’s Foundation, Indianapolis
- Angie Lewis, Crane Naval Base, Bedford
- Kathy Schoettlin, Old National Bank, Mount Vernon
- Nimbilasha Cushing, Author, South Bend
