IHB Book Signing with Indiana Historians

Join us Thursday, April 16th for a book signing with distinguished scholars of Indiana history Stephen Towne and Dr. James Madison. Towne will be signing his new Surveillance and Spies in the Civil War: Exposing Confederate Conspiracies in America’s Heartland. Towne is the Associate University Archivist in the IUPUI Special Collections and Archives. He is also an historian of the American Civil War, specializing in politics in Indiana and surrounding midwestern states in the North during the rebellion. IHB carries other works by Towne, including A Fierce, Wild Joy: The Civil War Letters of Colonel Edward J. Wood and Indiana’s War: The Civil War in Documents.

Dr. Madison will be signing his new book Hoosiers: A New History of Indiana, a revised and updated version of his 1986 The Indiana Way: A State History. Dr. Madison is the Thomas and Kathryn Miller Professor Emeritus at IU’s Department of History, whose research interests include World War II, 20th century U.S. history and Indiana history. He assists in various projects outside of the university, such as serving on the Lincoln Bicentennial Committee. IHB carries several of Dr. Madison’s works, such as Indiana through Tradition and Change, Eli Lilly: A Life, 1885-1977, Wendell Willkie: Hoosier Internationalist and Slinging Doughnuts for the Boys: An American Woman in World War II.

The authors will briefly speak about their books at 5 p.m. and take questions from the audience, and will be available to sign at 4:30 p.m. and 5:30. IHB’s book shop will be open at 4:30 p.m. for those who wish to purchase the authors’ works or check out other fantastic Indiana history books. Refreshments will be provided.
