PUBLIC INPATIENT DATA SETS
The public inpatient data sets include hospital discharges in which a patient was admitted to the hospital. Discharges are classified as inpatient by the reporting hospitals, and admission criteria distinguishing inpatient from outpatient discharges may vary across hospitals.
This release of the public inpatient data sets consists of 11 files. All data files are in Microsoft Access (.mdb) format. All lookup tables are in Excel (.xls or .xlsx) format.
