Commercial Fish Advice
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) have released advice on eating fish from stores and restaurants for children and women who are or might become pregnant or breastfeeding.
Women who are or might become pregnant or are breastfeeding and children are recommended to eat two to three servings of fish from the "Best Choices" category or one serving from the "Good Choices" category a week. Children should eat one to two servings of smaller portions a week.
The following fish are in the "Choices to Avoid" category:
- King mackerel
- Orange roughy
- Tuna (bigeye)
